Oval Gear Flow Meter & Gear Flow Meter

The oval gear flow meter and the (circular) gear flow meter have many similarities and also have many differences.

1. Similarities

1.1 Product Type and Application

  • They are all volumetric flow meters (positive displacement flow meters) , used for continuous or intermittent measurement and control of liquid flow in pipelines, and are suitable for flow measurement in industries such as petroleum, chemical, food, and medicine.

1.2 Advantages

  • The measuring range is large and the accuracy is high (0.5%~0.2%).

  • Small pressure loss, strong viscosity adaptability, and can measure high temperature (up to 200°C) and high viscosity liquids.

  • It supports remote signal transmission function and can be matched with electric display instruments to realize centralized control of cumulative,  quantitative and instantaneous flow.

1.3 Structure and Working Principle

  • Both measure flow rate through the rotation of mechanical gears, using sensors to convert mechanical movement into electrical signals (pulses or analog quantities).

  • Some models are equipped with a LCD meter head, which can display instantaneous flow and accumulated flow on site.

1.4 Installation and Maintenance

  • To avoid environments of strong magnetic fields, vibrations and corrosive. Horizontal installation is preferent and the liquid must fill the pipe.

  • During installation, bypass pipes and filters should be considered to prevent blockage by impurities.

  • Cleaning regularly to avoid gear jamming.

The oval gear flowmeter focuses on mechanical reliability, large diameter, and high-viscosity medium measurement, and is suitable for long-term stable operation in industrial environments.

When selecting, make a comprehensive judgment based on the medium characteristics (viscosity, corrosiveness), installation conditions (space, direction), accuracy requirements and signal integration requirements.
